DOCUMENTARY WORKSHOP FOR TEENS (ages 13-19)
14 Pews Film Academy makes films on Houston artists, while teaching the art of filmmaking. This summer we will be teaching a filmmaking workshop to teens. And we are ecstatic that the completed documentaries will have their World Premiere at the Houston Cinema Arts Festival.

This critically acclaimed film combines color, 16mm multi-camera footage of Hendrix unforgettable July 4, 1970 concert in its original performance sequence together with a new documentary that traces his journey to the festival amidst the dark shadow of civil rights unrest, the relenting toll of the Vietnam War and a burgeoning festival culture that drew together young people across the country who were inspired by the Woodstock festival.

Hank Lamb presents The second volume of American Folk Blues Festival: 1962-1969 was originally recorded by German promoters and blues fanatics Horst Lippmann and Fritz Rau, who originally booked the tours through Europe. These 16 tracks have been deemed highlights and it's hard to argue with that assessment, especially when the musicians present include Howlin' Wolf, Magic Sam, Skip James, Earl Hooker, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, Bukka White, Koko Taylor, Big Joe Turner, Big Mama Thornton, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Hound Dog Taylor, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Son House. These highlights will please both the collector and the casual fan.

The film follows Mariam as she sets out against all odds to change her fate by launching a successful catering company, Soufra, and then expand it into a food truck business with a diverse team of fellow refugee woman who now share this camp as their home.

BE NATURAL: THE UNTOLD STORY OF ALICE GUY-BLACHE
Alice Guy-Blache was a true pioneer who got into the movie business at the very beginning - in 1894, at the age of 21. Two years later, she was made head of production at Gaumont and started directing films. She and her husband moved to the United States, and she founded her own company, Solax, in 1910 -they started in Flushing and moved to a bigger facility in Fort Lee, New Jersey. But by 1919, Guy-Blache's career came to an abrupt end, and she and the 1000 films that bore her name were largely forgotten.
