Lei Low Rum Tiki Lounge
@ 6412 N. Main Street, is a favorite spot of mine since it's a block away from 14 Pews and has the best Mai Tais in H-Town!
@ 602 East 20th Street @Oxford - I love Jenni's Noodle House and am a frequent customer of theirs. My favorite dishes are: Salt-nPeppery Shrimp (I substitute the vermicelli for extra broccoli), Rockin' Veggies (substitute the vermicelli for extra broccoli), Art Car Curry, Shrimp Spring Rolls and their Chicken Soup. Jenni's Noodles has been a generous supporter and sponsor of 14 Pews and has donated yummy appetizers for our Birthday Party and Film Festivals. We appreciate their support!
@ 3320 White Oak Dr, Houston TX 77007. A new Heights Neighborhood Italian / American joint from Revival Market's Chef Ryan Pera & Morgan Weber.
Onion Creek Cafe
@ 3106 White Oak Blvd., Houston, TX 77007. This is one of my favorite hang-out places in the Heights, morning or night. It's also one of the highest rated eateries in the Heights on Urban Spoon. Onion Creek Cafe is a popular bar with a great patio and mouth-watering hamburgers, and an expansive beer selection. They also serve breakfast and have great coffee! In addition, the same owner runs Canyon Creek
, Cedar Creek Bar & Grill
and Dry Creek Cafe
, which are all within 4 miles of 14 Pews! But wait there's more! Onion Creek Cafe is a generous sponsor to 14 Pews, so please support businesses that support 14 Pews!
Liberty Kitchen Oyster Bar
@ 1050 Studewood Street, Houston TX 77008. Great for lunch, dinner or brunch, or drinks & appetizers at the bar or hearty plates of New American cuisine.
@ 350 W. 19th Street, Houston, TX 77008. Torchy's started from a food truck in Austin and now it's a chain that serves up tasty tacos and ice cold margaritas.
@ 1801 Yale, has my favorite Down House salad with grilled shrimp, it also has lots of beer on tap and a cool vibe.
Alice's Tall Texan Drive Inn
@ 4909 N. Main, better known as the Tall Texan is my favorite dive bar in the Heights. I've been visiting this place since 1990 when my old roommate Susan told me that the cheapest pint of Shiner was at the Tall Texan, but it's much more than that! It's those huge frosted mugs, the peanuts that are still 50 cents, the kickass jukebox, the diverse crowd and much, much more.
Big Star Bar
@ 1005 W. 19th Street, has been voted "Best Smoking Patio" to "Best Atmosphere/Decor," and is a great place to meet up with friends in their back yard and also just chill.
@ 985 Wakefield is tied with Rudyards as my favorite place to eat a hamburger and have a beer. A real kickback attitude, please don't compare this cool vibe to Austin because the owners are extremely Houston proud.
@ 250 West 19th Street. I brought my mom here for her birthday. This place has great food and a great wine list. My favorite dishes are: Citrus Salad, I absolutely love their Pan Seared Scottish Salmon dish. For weekend brunch I love their Jumbo Lump Crabcakes, Quiche and the Thai Red Curry Griller Shrimp Salad.
Tampico Seafood & Cocina Mexican @
2115 Airline Dr. Tampico is famous for their seafood. I recommend the Red Snapper!
Ruggles Green @
748 East 11th Street. They had me at Ruggles Green. My favorite salad of theirs is their Goat Cheese Salad -- hello! I'm also a fan of their wood-fired Margherita Pizza.
@ 2220 Bevis is a cool new spot for a tasty pizza and a variety of cold draft beer. I like sitting outside and having pizza and a cold one - my favorite pizza of theirs is their Shady Acres Pizza.
@ 729 Studewood Street has been rated top 10 coffee houses by the Houston Press. They also have a wonderful selection of beers and wines and also lots of yummy snacks and of course great coffee.
