"Bad Press" follows the story of Angel Ellis, a dedicated reporter for Mvskoke Media in Okmulgee, who is determined to provide her readers with access to all relevant information concerning the Muscogee Nation. Ellis and her colleagues are steadfast in their commitment to truth and transparency and are unafraid to challenge the integrity of certain tribal officials. However, their pursuit of transparency takes a tumultuous turn when an emergency session at the National Council results in the repeal of the 2015 Free Press Act. Subsequently, the newspaper is placed under the control of the Secretary of the Nation and Commerce.

About the filmmakers: Rebecca Landsberry-Baker and Joe Peeler skillfully narrate the nuanced and empowering journey of Angel Ellis and her modern Native community as they confront challenges and fight for transparency and access to information. Their mission is to hold their tribal nation's government accountable, regardless of the obstacles in their path.
