NEEDLE, by Ahahita Ghazvinizadeh

WHEN THE KID WAS A KID, BY Ahahita Ghazvinizadeh

THE YEAR I BROKEN MY VOICE, by Madsen Minax

Friday Feb 28
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

THE YEARS TO COME
join us for an evening of films created by CORE Fellows
films by Ahahita Ghazvinizadeh and Madsen Minax

This program of films collectively interrogates spaces of growth,
passage and transformation through a revisiting of coming-of-age narrative(s).

NEEDLE
is a coming of age drama centering on young Lily who is going
to get her ears pierced, but a quarrel between her parents overwhelms
the situation and directs it differently.

WHEN THE KID WAS A KID pictures children performing their parents'
roles in a game. The film is centering on Taha who cross-dresses and
plays the role of his single mother.

THE YEAR I BROKE MY VOICE re-approaches the master narrative of
childhood's transition into adulthood by collaging reenactments of
three 1980s coming of age films: The Outsiders (1983), Stand By Me
(1986), and The Year My Voice Broke (1987), that. The work positions a
group of age and gender ambiguous characters in a vacant and
post-industrial landscape, within which they must navigate death and
development.
