REFUGEE INTERVIEWS -- will be a ONE-DAY documentary workshop taught to ALL AGES, focusing on interviewing practices, camera techniques, sound and lighting. The students will interview REFUGEES on 7 questions, which are; 1) Share one of your dreams, either while you’re asleep or awake; 2) Tell us what is one of your big goals in life; 3) Tell us what you think might stop you from achieving your goals; 4) Share with us a story on grace, for example a story of second chances, or a story of forgiveness or however you might interpret grace to be; 5) Share why you wanted to leave your country; 6) Share what you hoped America might offer you; 7) What is the thing you like most about America.
The interviews will be edited down to a 60-minute documentary and screened June 20th - WORLD REFUGEE DAY.
: Cressandra Thibodeaux is a documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, editor and storyteller. She started actively exploring film while being a camera-woman at Houston Public Access. She then went on to receive her MFA from Columbia University’s Film Program. At Columbia University she was part of an educational team that taught documentary to middle school students in Harlem. Cressandra is passionate about helping other filmmakers develop their skills. She balances her time as a teacher with her creative work on documentary films and running 14 Pews. Cressandra is the founder of several small film festivals and the Executive Director of 14 Pews.
